Tales of the Nentir Vale
The Bloodspear War
The mighty Empire of Nerath exerted its influence into the remote region of the Nentir Vale for centuries, but eventually that influence began to wane as the empire was forced to focus its attention on more direct threats. When the empire began to crumble about a century ago, the city of Fallcrest continued to flourish — for a time.
Ninety years ago, a fierce horde of orcs known as the Bloodspears descended from the Stonemarch and swept over the vale. Fallcrest’s army was defeated in a rash attempt to halt the Bloodspears out on Gardbury Downs. The Moon Hills makes it difficult for a sizeable army to approach Fallcrest in a group. A portion of the Bloodspears ahead of the main army reached Fallcrest first. They burned and pillaged Fallcrest (but didn’t destroy it), and then left, teling their commander that Fallcrest was destroyed. The Bloodspear orcs then went on to wreak havoc all across the Nentir Vale before fracturing due to infighting and returning to the Stonemarch.
